“My idea of studying Landscape Architecture actually first took flight with the photomontages.
I started to think: I wish I could make these images in real life, use nature as my material,
so to speak. I realized that this meant I would need to know more about how a landscape shapes
itself. I want to know how nature works, how it grows; similar to how, you know, with paint,
you learn that red and yellow makes orange, except that nature is always transforming,
always shifting, so you need to anticipate the development of certain plants, the change of light.
But I imagine that one day I will be able to compose my images of nature in a way that these
shifts and changes are part of the image: an image of nature in nature, which is always transforming.”
